VP88 CONDENSER MICROPHONE (PZA)

Stereo condenser microphone that combines two condenser capsules to create a stereo audio image of the sound source. It features a windscreen, swivel adapter, Y-cable, a bass roll-off selector, an internal shockmount, and a pop filter.

The Shure VP88 is a single-point stereo condenser microphone for professional studio recording, field recording, electronic news gathering, and broadcast studios. It combines two condenser capsules in a single housing to create a stereo audio image of the sound source.

It is unique in its ability to capture the realism of a live event while withstanding the harsh environments of an outdoor production.

The VP88 features a front-to-side (MS) configuration. One of the microphone capsules (front) points forward to capture on-axis sound in a cardioid pattern. The other capsule (side) is bidirectional and captures sound from both sides.

The VP88 features an internal front-side array with three adjustments for varying degrees of stereo image separation. This internal array can be overridden if an external array is used or if stereo image adjustment is to be performed in post-production. Dials on top of the microphone control the output mode, stereo image, low-frequency rolloff, and battery operation on/off.

The VP88 can be operated using phantom power or an internal 6V battery. The VP88 is supplied with a Y-cable, foam windscreen, swivel mount adapter, 6V battery, and a zippered case.

Optional accessories include a microphone isolation system, a 7.6 m extension cable, a phantom power supply, and a 4.3 m mic stand.

The optional A88SM shockmount system provides optimal isolation against shock and vibration transmitted through the shockmount. The A88SM is ideal for critical studio applications requiring a standard shockmount, as this microphone is compatible with most electronic news gathering (ENG) cameras.
