The 5450CS H/G Digital Communications Station is a fully programmable touchscreen user interface device for initiating audio-visual announcements with 5400 Series Announcement Control Systems. Each model uses an electret condenser cartridge that is placed in the housing in such a way as to improve its frequency response. The location of the microphone element provides the mechanism for good acoustic coupling to provide a full-bodied, highly intelligible voice signal. The 5450CSG includes a gooseneck microphone and the 5450CSH includes a handheld microphone.
The 5450CS has an auxiliary line-level audio input that can be used as a background (local) music source. The station also has a line-level audio output that can be used as a zone output.
The 5450CS is a network device where each station can obtain its IP address automatically or can be assigned a unique IP address, simplifying installation and configuration.
Handheld microphones
The handheld microphone assembly contains an omnidirectional electret condenser microphone cartridge integrated with a microphone preamplifier and audio line controller. The microphone element and preamplifier are mounted in a black textured teardrop-shaped molded Cyclolac™ housing. The use of an omnidirectional element eliminates the proximity effect that creates a boomy sound when a user speaks close to a microphone.
It uses a magnet to attach it to the microphone station base assembly and comes with a circular coiled cable integrated into the housing assembly. A strain relief is incorporated into the end of the cable housing and locks into the housing. Terminations at each end are molded 6-wire RJ25 connectors that provide additional resistance to pull-out failure.
Cartridge features include highly efficient electrical specification, pressure-type operating principle, low impedance (2.2 kΩ) and high reliability under adverse shock, vibration and other environmental conditions.
Gooseneck microphone
The gooseneck microphone contains an omnidirectional electret condenser microphone cartridge integrated with a microphone preamplifier and audio line controller. The microphone element is mounted on the metal part of the gooseneck windscreen. The preamplifier and line driver are on a PC board mounted inside the gooseneck base on an XLR connector. The microphone assembly is a 12” gooseneck with a hard metal windscreen on top and a 5-pin XLR connector at the base for mounting.
