It features an impressive array of inputs including hi-res UPnPTM streaming (up to 24-bit/192kHz), Spotify Connect, iRadio, Bluetooth (aptX), USB, multi-room, TIDAL music streaming support and an optional DAB/FM module. . Six digital inputs and three analog inputs cover integration with a wide range of sources from CDs and game consoles to phono switches. Performance can also be improved with the addition of a Naim Audio XP5 XS, XPS or 555 PS power supply.

All analog input jacks on the 272 are manually connected to the main board to improve mechanical decoupling. The board is mounted on a shoulder bolt system that releases any stress that could negatively affect sound quality. The sound critical resistors used arrive at Naim Audio matched to within 5%. This already high tolerance is improved prior to assembly by hand matching to a margin of only 1%. Then we go even further by introducing a slight mechanically compatible curve into the legs of each during assembly. We take this care and attention because we know it can help make a difference in producing the incredible sound on which we've built our reputation.
Hybrid volume control and Class A headphone amp
The 272 volume control is derived from the design of the NAC S1 flagship control. It offers smooth operation and perfect level matching, while a single-ended, Class-A headphone amplifier makes the most of high-output headphones. As soon as headphones are plugged in, the output current drive automatically kicks in five times to provide dynamic drive for all headphone impedances.
