AST-6A speaker switching systems include an impedance protection circuit that works in pairs, allowing each set of speakers to be driven directly and simultaneously from the amplifier for maximum efficiency. The left and right channels are completely isolated for protected operation. The AST-6 measures 17" W x 15⁄8" H x 57⁄8" D (432 x 41 x 149 mm) and can be mounted in a 19" rack or shelf using the supplied brackets. It features European-style screw terminals that will accommodate 12 to 24 gauge wire, push-button on/off controls for each connection, and an attractive, damage-resistant black finish. The AST-6A provides a general selection of system A or B, but does not include volume controls.


AST-6A provides switching control of six pairs of speakers and accommodates any combination of 8 and/or 16 ohm speakers. The AST-6A model also features a switch for safe connection of 4 ohm speakers. AST devices include separate on/off controls for each speaker pair and an AB source selector switch for overall system control. The speaker volume can be adjusted using individual room volume controls, such as the AtlasIED DAT-8 or SAT-8 series (not included). AST-6A has a power handling capacity of 40 watts RMS*/120 watts audio.
