POWER SEQUENCING AND CONTROL (PZA)
Web-based energy controller
The iP 1515-RX combines microcontroller-based power management with the proven surge protection and filtration performance of the Juice Goose RX series.
This product can be accessed via Internet or intranet communications using an Ethernet or RS232 connection so that individual AC receptacles can be turned on and off.
The iP 1515-RX provides local, intranet, or Internet power control to six receptacles grouped into three individual Power Pods.
Each of these Pods can be turned on and off individually.
FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS
The iP 1515-RX features a high-quality design, proven power protection, and the most important features needed for AC power control and monitoring.
- Local, intranet and Internet power control.
- Fail-safe local sequencing and manual override
- Integrated web server for easy configuration, control, sequencing and monitoring
- Front panel LED indicators for network connection, surge protection, and powered outlets
- Administrator and User Login Options
- Automatic power cycle to reboot a network data router if the network connection is lost
- Crestron, Q-SYS and other AV control modules are available
- Maximum line-to-neutral voltage surge of ten volts
- Maximum overvoltage of half a volt on the ground line
- Transient energy absorption of 1,020 joules
-
AC line filtration from 60 dB to 80 dB at 30 MHz.
Using third-party software, the iP 1515-RX can be programmed to turn on and off at specific times.
Additionally, its outputs can be sequenced on and off if required for audio system applications.
This remote control can also be used to reset DSPs or other processor-based electronic devices, as well as to save energy costs by programming electronic equipment to turn off when not in use.
WEB SERVER
All iP Series products have an integrated web server that provides a graphical user interface for controlling and monitoring equipment connected to the iP Series unit.
This feature is available for remote use as soon as the unit's IP address is entered into a web browser.
TCP/IP CONTROL
It is possible to control and monitor iP-1515-RX over Ethernet using the raw TCP protocol.
In this mode, any PC (Windows, Linux, Mac) can connect to the iP-1515-RX via a TCP/IP connection using a suitable TCP/IP client program.
Once the connection is made, console commands are available to the user via TCP/IP as if the user were connected to the IP-1515-RX via the local serial connection.
RS232 CONTROL
The RJ11 style connector on the back of the iP1515-RX chassis (labeled "RS232") can be used for remote control of this unit via RS232 protocol at distances of no more than 50 feet. The commands for this control are detailed in the iP 1520-RX Manual in the section titled "RS232 Control and Monitoring."
To issue RS232 commands, terminal software such as Windows Hyper Terminal is required. For your convenience, a version of the Micro Terminal program is available for download from the following link

LOCAL AND REMOTE MONITORING
The operation and status of the iP 1515-RX and connected equipment can be observed in several ways.
Each of the three lights on the front of the iP 1515-RX lights up to indicate which of the three Power Pods has been powered on.
A "Network" LED indicates active data network communications and surge protection function or failure.
Through the built-in web server or a suitable third-party interface, each of the three Power Pods can be monitored to determine if it is powered on.
SNMP
Juice Goose developed a subset of SNMP-enabled iP series products. These models can be addressed using either SNMP or RS232, but lack some of the features of the standard iP series models.

POWER CONDITIONING
The iP 1515-RX provides the best protection and filtration of hot, neutral and ground AC lines.
Published test results demonstrate the effectiveness of the power protection circuitry contained in the iP 1515-RX and other RX series products.
RX power protection technology is particularly valuable because it works against both common mode (ground) and normal mode (line to neutral) events.
While protecting against dramatic surges of 6000 volts at 3000 amps on hot and neutral, it also limits ground line surges to half a volt (0.50) to prevent operational failures in digital processing equipment such as DSPs.
The iP 1515-RX's power protection circuitry includes a differential transformer, extensive filtering capacitance, and control circuitry that provides protection against dangerous surges, high-frequency interference, building wiring faults, and overvoltage. RX technology has been proven to offer protection comparable to that of an isolation transformer. In addition to protecting against dangerous surges, this unit reduces high-frequency normal and common mode noise by up to 70 dB over a range of up to 30 MHz. The "Red" LED on the front panel also indicates that the power protection is operating or in a fault condition.
FAIL-SAFE CONTROL
This power module features three levels of on/off control to provide fail-safe operation in the event of a system or network malfunction.
The iP 1515-RX has a switch on the front of the chassis that can be used to sequence all switched outlets to turn on or off if there is a data network failure.
If there is an internal failure in the processor, the manual override switch, also on the front of the chassis, can also power the unit on.
