The OPT2 is a fiber interconnect interface for the R2 and M2 multi-zone digital and multimedia matrix systems. This module allows up to 16 digital audio signals to be transferred over a single fiber conductor (8 stereo channels) to cover long distances. The devices are connected using 62.5/125 µm duplex multimode glass fiber terminated with ST/PC connectors. The entire system is wired according to a closed-loop principle, with the output connected to the input of the next device in the chain, and the last device providing feedback to the input of the first device.

Devices (up to 15 units) can be cascaded using a serial connection, with a maximum distance of 1,000 meters between two devices. The specially developed protocol ensures precise signal transmission with maximum speed and reliability.

The OPT2 includes all the software and accessories (except the fiber) required to control and configure the system. Selecting the signals to be transferred and assigning zones can be done on the system's user interface. The recommended fiber for use with the OPT2 is 'PROCAB FBS125 Duplex Optical Fiber ST/PC to ST/PC 62.5/125 µm'. This optical transmitter is compatible with 50/125 µm, 62.5/125 µm, 100/140 µm, and 200 µm HCS® fiber.
